From November 9th to 15th CIT Puerto de la Cruz will convert the city again to a stage of mystery with the celebration of the V Agatha Christie Festival. The work of the writer and history will be represented in theater, lectures, exhibitions, concerts and different activities.

Cartel V Festival Agatha Chistie

Agatha Christie was one of the famous visitors of the city. After the death of her mother and her divorce she came in 1927 to Tenerife to take refuge, getting away from intrusive journalists. The writer stayed at the Hotel Taoro, where at that time the English community was located. In memory of her visit CIT Puerto de la Cruz organised since 2005 a tribute to the woman and her work; and also the intrigue and suspense, of course.

Activities:

Meetings and conferences: It’s a big honour that in this 125th anniversary of Agatha Christie’s birth Dr. John Curran, world leading authority on Agatha Christie and her only grandson Mathew Prichard will join us to tell us more about the life and literature of the First Lady of Crime. There also will be held events with Spanish genre writers like Alexis Ravelo and Dulce Xerach.

Sports: The festival also will be a tour of the interests of the Lady of crime such as surfing, with an exhibition of La Marea Surf School; hiking, with a Mount Teide tour to watch the sunset and stargazing; long walks through the city and the gardens of Puerto de la Cruz with open days at the Botanical Garden, Tea time in the garden Site Litre, and a guided tour along the footsteps of Agatha Christie.
